The construction of the house for jisha’s mother has been completed and will handover to her on tomorrow’s ceremony. Chief minister pinarayi Vijayan is the chief guest for the function.Innocent MP, Eldhose Kunnappally MLA and Ernakulam district collector M G Rajamanickam will also participate in the function organised as part of the house handover. The house is named after jisha as ‘ jisha Bhavanam’.
The house is built in 5 cents granted by block panchayath. Jisha had started the construction of the house on the assumption that she could complete it with the Rs 300,000. But construction stopped midway due to lack of funds. Soon after, she was murdered.
To complete the construction of the house, collector Rajamanickyam opened a joint bank account with jisha’s mother and started to collect donations from various parts. Donations ranged from Rs 5,000 to Rs 100,000. The collector resumed the construction when the donations reached a sufficient amount of Rs 12 lakhs. The construction of the house was done rapidly so that jisha’s mother could go directly to her new home from the hospital where she is currently under treatment.
The Nirmiti Kendra built the house at Mudakkuzha >within 44 days. The house has two bedrooms. The cost of construction of house is Rs 11.50 lakh. Some of the material were donated by well wishers.
Jisha, was a 29-year-old law student at the Government Law College, Ernakulam. She was found murdered at her home. Rajeshwari, mother of jisha found the dead body of her daughter when She returned from work. Jisha’s mother worked as a casual labour. The crime took place at the peak of elections, as a result the murder gained high importance and a urge to solve the murder was shown by all political parties. The government has also given Rs 10 lakh to jisha’s family and provided a government job for her elder sister, Deepa.
After a long month, Kerala police cracked the case with the help of a Assamese migrant and scientific evidences. Ameer-ul-Islam, a migrant labourer was identified as culprit and got arrested. He confessed about the murder to the police. Revenge and alcohol consumption are the motto of the murder.
