Rio olympics 2016 INDIA Sakshi Malik wins Bronze Medal

At last, Sakshi Malik ended the quest for medal in India. The woman wrestler managed to pull off a bronze medal in the 58kg category beating Aisuluu Tynybekova in the play off bout. Sakshi is only the fourth women to win a medal for India in olympics. Weightlifter karnam malleshwari, boxer Mc Mary kom and shuttler Saina Nehwal were the other Indian women from India to have won a olympic medal.

The Kyrgyzstan wrestler was dominant for most of the time in the match. But Sakshi managed to beat her in the dying seconds of the match with a score 8-5. The wrestler had earlier thrashed purevforjiin orkkhon of Mongolia in the repechage round with a score of 12-3.

Sakshi Malik aged 23, was born in Rohrak, Haryana. She had previously won silver at the 2014 commonwealth games which took place in Glasgow. She also won a bronze medal in the 2015 Asian wrestling championships, beating Ayaulym Kassymova of Kazhakhsthan. She have been coached by Ishwae Dahiya for years.

Sakshi is going to be awarded with huge amount from various organisations. Haryana government announced a cash prize of Rs 2 crore in addition to land grant. She will also receive a 50 lakh Rupees from her employer, Railways. Indian olympic association has announced a 20 lakh rupees for the bronze winner. 15 lakh and 1 lakh is offered by JSW group and actor Salman khan respectively for her.
